Walking With Purpose Lent 2024

A Catholic Woman's Guide to Scripture

Walking with Purpose (WWP) is a Catholic Women’s Bible Study that aims to bring women to a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Using scripture and weekly small group discussions, the goal of the WWP ministry is to link everyday challenges with solutions from the teachings of Christ and the Catholic Church.

WWP is a tested approach open to women of all ages and backgrounds in our parish who want to grow in prayer and unity with God’s Word. Wherever you are in your faith journey, we hope you will join us.

How does it work?

Participation in Walking with Purpose at St. Andrew will be in a small group setting. Most of the reading is done individually using your study guide throughout the week.

We also meet during the study to gather for Connect Coffees, which consist of social time and an online presentation of related bible talks and small group discussion. All meetings will take place at St. Andrew the Apostle.

LENT 2024 SESSION - JANUARY 9 to MARCH 21, 2024

The next St. Andrew the Apostle WWP study will be Beholding Your King (January 9 – March 21, 2024). We live in a self-centered culture that all too often leaves us feeling empty and dissatisfied. A fuller view of God and His glory is the perfect antidote, which you will experience in Beholding Your King. We’ll study King David, select psalms, the temple, and many Old Testament prophets and see the ways in which they all point to the coming King of Kings, Jesus Christ.

During this nine-week Bible study we will:

Prophecies about Jesus in the Old Testament, and their effect on people past and present

Psalm 23, the most familiar of all the Psalms which has comforted people throughout the centuries

God’s steady purpose in both the Old and New Covenants, and the promises He kept to all of us

There will be three sessions (listed below). While we will make every effort to accommodate your first choice, your session assignment must be confirmed by the WWP registrar.

       Tuesday AM (10AM – 11:30AM)

       Tuesday PM (7PM – 8:30PM)

       Thursday AM (10AM – 11:30AM)

Please Note: Due to Federal holidays, feast days, and other parish activities, there are some dates where WWP will not meet. These dates are listed in each syllabus.

Weather Policy: Walking With Purpose will follow the Fairfax County Schools for weather-related delays and cancellations.

Registration will open December 2023. Watch the bulletin for details.

Spaces for this program are limited and registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Please REGISTER as soon as possible. Registration will close on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.

The registration stipend is $10 for the complete nine week study. The Beholding Your King study guide is available for purchase on the Walking with Purpose website. The study guide is $20 plus shipping. More details will be provided in a follow-up email including your registration/session confirmation.

The fee for participation is $10 per Bible study and will cover the basic expenses of hosting the program. Payments should be made to St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. Pay by check or through Faith Direct. Checks can be dropped off at the Parish Office.
